What is AI 3D model segmentation?
AI segmentation divides a 3D model into meaningful regions, such as a head, body or accessory. It helps you work with parts of the model independently.
Is segmentation the same as cutting a model in half?
A plane cut slices straight through geometry. Segmentation identifies regions of the model and separates along their boundaries. Choose segmentation when you want recognizable parts rather than a straight cut.
How do I upload my model?
Select Upload model to open Tripo Studio’s segmentation workspace, then choose your file there. This page displays a prepared example; it does not upload or transfer a local file.
Can I split STL, OBJ or GLB models?
Open the Studio upload dialog to check the currently supported formats and file limits. STL, OBJ and GLB can store different kinds of model data; available processing and export options depend on the file and your plan.
Will every model split exactly the way I expect?
Results depend on the shape and quality of the input model. Inspect the separated regions in Studio and refine the result before exporting or using it in another project.
Can I use the parts for 3D printing?
Segmentation can help you prepare separate parts, but it does not guarantee a print-ready result. Check dimensions, closed geometry, joints, orientation and supports in your printing software.
