How to Use Tripo Models Commercially | Tripo3D
This guide answers the most common questions about commercial use of 3D models generated through Tripo.
Can I Use Tripo Models Commercially?
Yes, if you are on a paid plan. Paid Users have full rights to use, modify, distribute, and commercially exploit all 3D models they generate through Tripo. You also grant Tripo a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.
Free Users: Under the Terms of Service (Section 5.2.1), Tripo retains all rights to Inputs and Outputs generated by Free Users, including all Intellectual Property rights. If you need commercial use rights, upgrade to a paid plan.
What Counts as Commercial Use?
| Use Case | Allowed? |
|---|---|
| Use in a commercial game (Steam, mobile, console) | Yes |
| Sell as part of a 3D asset pack | Yes |
| Use in client work / freelance projects | Yes |
| 3D print and sell physical products | Yes |
| Use in marketing materials, ads, presentations | Yes |
| Use in film, video, or animation production | Yes |
| Print-on-demand products | Yes |
| Build a competing 3D generation service using Tripo outputs | No |
| Redistribute via the Tripo Generative 3D Foundation Model Service to third parties without written authorization | No |
What About Input Images?
Tripo grants you rights to the generated 3D model, but this does not grant you rights to the input image you used. If your input image contains copyrighted characters, IP, or artwork you do not own, the generated model may still infringe on those rights.
Before using a generated model commercially, check your input:
| Input Source | Risk Level | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Your own artwork / photos | Safe | Full commercial use |
| Licensed stock images | Check license | Verify the stock license allows derivative 3D works |
| Public domain images | Safe | Full commercial use |
| Fan art / existing IP characters | High risk | Do not use commercially without IP holder permission |
| Images from unknown sources | Uncertain | Create your own reference or use AI-generated concept art instead |
