At first, the scene looks like a robotic arm working on a single valve. As the camera pulls back, a smaller robot and a field of valve flowers come into view. The action is not just a mechanical task. The larger robot is showing the smaller one how to make a flower. In this world, spring does not come naturally. The two robots make it themselves with discarded parts, one flower at a time. Through this process, they also share what they know with each other. I connected the theme “Out There” to what can be discovered beyond the first thing we see. Behind one valve is a whole field, and behind one small action is the relationship between the two robots.
